Using Compression and Encryption

With disks that have striped and spanned volumes, the drive status might show as

Failed, Online (Errors), or Unreadable. In many cases, you can resolve these problems using the same techniques as with simple volumes. Right-click the volume and select Reactivate Disk. If this doesn’t work, click Rescan Disks on the Action menu.

You might also see the Missing or Offline status if drives have been disconnected or powered off. In this case, you can try to reactivate or rescan, but this probably won’t work. To resolve the problem, you may need to check the disk to ensure that it is connected and that its power supply is connected. If you can’t fix the problem, you’ll need to replace the disk. Shut down your computer before you try to examine your computer’s hardware.

Using Compression and Encryption

When you format volumes with NTFS, you can use compression to reduce the disk space used or encryption to add an extra layer of protection to your data. Because these two options are mutually exclusive, a file or folder can be either compressed or encrypted, not both. While you can compress or encrypt entire drives, you can also compress or encrypt individual files and folders.

8. Controlling Puppet Agent

In the previous chapter, we showed how to use Puppet to install and configure MCollective. In this chapter, we’re going to show you how MCollective can:

Use the Puppet classes applied to the node in filters

Use facts known by Puppet in filters

Query, start, stop, and restart the Puppet agent

Run the Puppet agent with special command-line options

Query and make changes to the node using Puppet resources

If you are using Puppet, you will be quite happy with the level of control MCollective gives you. MCollective allows new ways of using Puppet that simply aren’t possible from agent, cron-run, or even command-line usage of Puppet.

The first thing we need to do is install the MCollective Puppet agent. Installation of this is identical to the agents we installed in Chapter 5. Since we know you have Puppet installed, we’ll dispense with the command-line installation and show you to do it with Puppet:

If you use Hiera, you can install the agent with a simple listing of the Puppet agent in the mcollective::plugin::agents array. In this example, we’re going to show you an example where we set the Puppet agent dependencies to ensure that the Puppet client is installed on the host:

Abstract - This paper presents an exploratory study on the application of a combination of different segmentation techniques to point clouds of dental models. The techniques are based in geometric primitives (e.g. RANSAC), region growing segmentation and graph theory (particularly the

"Min-Cut" algorithm), and were tested using dental 3D point clouds. Data were acquired using a Konica Minolta Vivid 9i laser range scanner.

Also, a semi-automatic segmentation methodology is presented. Results of teeth segmentation using testing data suggest that it is possible to automatically segment teeth from digital 3D models.

12. What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs?

Master Books ePub

What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs?

Ken Ham

Dinosaurs are used more than almost anything else to indoctrinate children and adults in the idea of millions of years of earth history. However, the Bible gives us a framework for explaining dinosaurs in terms of thousands of years of history, including the mystery of when they lived and what happened to them. Two key texts are Genesis 1:2425 and Job 40:1524.

Are Dinosaurs a Mystery?

Many think that the existence of dinosaurs and their demise is shrouded in such mystery that we may never know the truth about where they came from, when they lived, and what happened to them. However, dinosaurs are only a mystery ifyou accept the evolutionary story of their history.

According to evolutionists: Dinosaurs first evolved around 235 million years ago, long before man evolved.[1] No human being ever lived with dinosaurs. Their history is recorded in the fossil layers on earth, which were deposited over millions of years. They were so successful as a group of animals that they eventually ruled the earth. However, around 65 million years ago, something happened to change all of this the dinosaurs disappeared. Most evolutionists believe some sort of cataclysmic event, such as an asteroid impact, killed them. But many evolutionists claim that some dinosaurs evolved into birds, and thus they are not extinct but are flying around us even today.[2]
