Advances in Performance Improvement of Time-Frequency Distributions for Doppler Ultrasound Blood Flow Instrumentation

Garcí a Nocetti, J. Solano Gonzá lez, E. Rubio Acosta

Universidad Nacional Autó noma de México, IIMAS, México D.F., 04510, México

Abstract: Doppler ultrasound blood flow spectral estimation is a technique for non-invasive cardiovascular disease detection. Blood flow velocity and disturbance may be determined by measuring the spectral mean frequency and bandwidth respectively.

Typical methods utilize Fourier Transform-based algorithms to estimate the spectral response of a signal. This practice suffers from poor frequency resolution when estimating non-stationary signals.

The Cohen class of Time Frequency Distributions

(TFD) has efficiently determined a very close estimation of the instantaneous frequency for quasistationary signals such as arterial blood flow.

However, the computation complexity for each distribution is O(N3), where N is the sample length, this being not suitable for real-time applications. In this work a study is directed to evaluate the response of different distributions when truncating the TFD’s generalized autocorrelation function. 8. Datastore Administration

Slice ePub May 28, 2014

Your data is the heart of your application, so youll want to take good care of it. Youll want to watch it, and understand how it grows and how it affects your apps behavior. Youll want to help it evolve as your apps functionality changes. Youll probably want to make periodic backups, because nothing is perfect. You may even want up-to-date information about data types and sizes. And youll want to poke at it, and prod it into shape using tools not necessarily built into your app.

App Engine provides a variety of administrative tools for learning about, testing, protecting, and fixing your datastore data. In this chapter, we look at a few of these tools, and their associated best practices.

The first thing you might want to do with your apps datastore is see whats in it. Your app provides a natural barrier between you and how your data is stored physically in the datastore, so many data troubleshooting sessions start with pulling back the covers and seeing whats there.

11. Project 8: Automatic Daily Discussions

Slice ePub May 27, 2014

Let's say that you decide to set up a weblog covering the latest news on Java and XML programming. You'd like to keep it fresh, ideally posting new content every day to spur conversations. Finally, you want new content to be posted automaticallyeven if you're away. We know that Google is constantly indexing the Web, culling out undesirables, and doing everything it can to deliver useful results for specific searches. Why not leverage that search capability to find out interesting topics for conversation in a community?

In this chapter, you'll build an application to combine your Blogger ( or LiveJournal ( weblog with Google's search functionality.

A weblog is a web site with a set of stories, sorted chronologically. Generally speaking, the idea is that it should be extremely easy to post a new story to a weblog, allowing for very natural, seamless writing. Personal weblogs often resemble diaries or journals. Group or corporate weblogs typically serve to allow a group of people with common interests to share thoughts, news, or discuss problems.
