Most people receive very little training on how to live effectively and
harmoniously with themselves and others. This I believe is an unfortunate
outcome of our parenting beliefs and methods [that] emphasize academic and
vocational skills and place little or no emphasis or value on providing a person
with the essential skills to live a life of personal fulfillment, contribution and
self actualization.… Without proper training on how to make wise choices
in one’s life, the chances are very slim anyone will make them.

—Sidney Madwed

A great deal of uncertainty and insecurity for kids can be caused when parents are constantly arguing, disagreeing in response to kids requests, and allowing a child to play one parent against the other. A few years ago, I was involved with just such a family dynamic. The teenage son, Roy, had acted out self-destructively. The adults in the household were highly intelligent, super-competitive, type A professionals. Unfortunately, in front of their children, they were always competing with each other, and each of them always had to be right.

7. Address Addressing

Slice ePub May 28, 2014

You can create outgoing messages in various waysby clicking New Message or Forward in the toolbar, for example, or by replying (see Reply to Messages). In every case, the message needs one or more addresses, which I discuss in this section.

When addressing an outgoing email message, you can, of course, simply type email addresses into the provided address fields (To and Cc). However, you may wish to easily enter email addresses that you have not memorized and you may wish to display the hidden address fields, Bcc and Reply-To. In this section, I explain how to handle each of these addressing scenarios, and I discuss sending email to groups.

At the end of this section, in Choose an Account to Send From, I look at how to change the address from which you send your message, something you'll likely need to know how to do if you have more than one email account configured in Mail.

Mail relies on the system-wide Address Book to store frequently used email addresses. If you haven't already filled in your Address Book with your most frequently used email addresses, consider doing soit will make your life a lot easier.

We investigate the almost surely asymptotic stability of gene regulatory networks

(GRNs) with Markovian switching. Previous research has described GRNs as coupled nonlinear stochastic systems under parametric perturbations without considering the important aspect of different time-delays in the subsystems. However, a realistic model of a GRN is that of a hybrid stochastic retarded system that represents a complex nonlinear dynamical system including mode-dependent time delays and Markovian jumping as well as noise fluctuations. In this paper, we interpret GRNs as hybrid stochastic retarded systems and prove their almost surely asymptotical stability and give upper bounds of derivatives of time delays of the subsystems. The theoretical results are elucidated in an illustrative example and thus shown how they can be applied to reverse engineering design.

the Chief

A native of Shreveport,

Bad luck struck again in the 1981–82 season, when the

Warriors missed the playoffs by one game. A year later, they tumbled to 30–52. That dismal season would be Attles’ last as
