Trinity Sunday

Slice ePub May 27, 2014

Trinity Sunday—Year A

Lectio

John 3:16–18

Meditatio

“God so loved the world…”

My first “catechesis” on the Blessed Trinity consisted of geometric designs in a stained glass window at church. When I started religious education, our text was equally impersonal.

More than a generation later, children’s catechesis on the Trinity took on a more human dimension. One primary text introduced the Trinity with these words: “The Father is God, and he loves me. The Son is God, and he loves me. The Holy Spirit is God, and he loves me.” When I began catechizing children, I was delighted with this new approach, which proclaimed that the Trinity has an intimate role in our lives.

A simple catechesis based on today’s Gospel might quote the First Letter of John: “In this way was the love of God revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins” (1 Jn 4:9–10).

How amazing it is that, despite the waywardness of his free creatures, the Father took pity on us and sent his Son to suffer and die for us, so that our sins could be forgiven and we could become God’s children! And how consoling it is that the Holy Spirit gives us chance after chance to continue living in grace and eventually to enter the eternal joy of the Trinity!

1. Introduction to Search Analytics

Slice ePub May 27, 2014

To define success, you must be able to measure it. To improve upon your success, you must be able to measure it.

Successful search campaigns are won by those who know where they are weak and where they are strong. To be a winner in search, you need to have a solid metrics foundation. There isnt any magic solution or formula; it comes down to measuring, testing, analyzing, and interpreting data. If you want to improve your search campaigns, you will need to exhaust all the data you have, beginning with the data closest to the user or customer and then expanding out.

Fix and improve what you can control first (your website and the customer experience), then try to fix the larger issues (competing and moving up the rankings by building more links for competitive words). A good approach to working with data is to look at data about the user (words and searches bringing them to your site), data throughout your site (what they are doing on your site), and off-site data (influence over offline actions such as buying a product in a store), and then to tie all of this back to data from the search engine (determining whether the engines are interpreting your sites content as you feel it should be interpreted). The success of your search campaigns depends on recognizing that you have access to user behavior as well as user intent. The engines try to understand user intent in order to provide the best experience possible and pass this along every time a user comes to your website through the referring URL. Knowing the users intent should help us shape our entry points, as well as the overall experience that people have when engaging with our sites.

3. Taurine, GABA, and Tyrosine

Slice ePub May 22, 2014

 CHAPTER 3

TAURINE, GABA, AND TYROSINE

Taurine, GABA, and tyrosine are amino acids that have been found useful as antistress supplements, both in preventing stress levels from getting out of control in the first place and in treating a person when under stress. Before delving into their antistress properties, let’s talk a little about the role of amino acids in general.

Your Body’s Building Blocks

There are approximately twenty-two nitrogen-containing amino acids. In different combinations, these acids link to form the proteins that are the foundation for all vegetable and animal life. For this reason, amino acids have been called the building blocks of life. Protein is found in your muscles, hair, nails, skin—it is present in every cell of your body—and your body uses it for the growth and repair of all cells.

Amino Acids

Known as the building blocks of life, these protein-making organic acids are present in every cell and determine the structure of all living things.

Amino acids are categorized as either essential or nonessential. Those that are essential are the 20 percent that your body cannot manufacture on its own—you must obtain these through diet or supplements. The majority of amino acids are produced by your liver and are called nonessential. While your body makes these nonessential amino acids, there may be instances, such as when you are under stress, when you do require supplementation.
