Diamond Reef is located between Marina Cay and the southeast side of Great Camanoe, a private island that is off-limits to visitors. Novice divers and snorkelers of all levels enjoy exploring the reef, which lies in 10 to 35 feet of crystal-clear water. It's too far from shore to be a beach dive, so check with Dive BVI if you want to go out by boat.

Chapter 4: Magical Seasons

Slice PDF May 14, 2014

Mario Lemieux played 17 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins between 1984 and 2006, and he bought the team in 1999. He is the only person to have won the Stanley Cup as both a player and an owner. Crosby lived in Lemieux’s house from 2005 until 2010.

faced the Red Wings again in the Stanley Cup Finals. This time, the Penguins had more success. They beat the Red Wings in seven games. At 21, Crosby became the youngest captain to lead his team to the NHL championship. His 15 goals were the most by any player in the playoffs.

Crosby scored a career-high 51 goals during the 2009–10 season. He tied with Steven Stamkos as the NHL’s leading goal scorer. His 109 points was second highest in the league. But the

Penguins were not able to repeat as champions. They lost to the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the playoffs.

Crosby was disappointed to end this NHL season with a loss. But he did not end the year empty-handed. He had won another top hockey prize only a few months before the

NHL playoffs.

Chapter 13: Adding a Navigation Bar

Slice PDF May 27, 2014

Adding a Navigation Bar

Building a navigation bar happens in two distinct phases. First, you create the button graphics in your image editor of choice. Second, you add the buttons to your template document and link them to the pages of your site. As you work, Dreamweaver handles all the necessary HTML code and writes the JavaScript for your rollover effects. This chapter takes you through the entire process.

But first, a program note: this chapter deals with graphical navigation bars—the kind with clickable images and button states. If you’re interested in using regular old text links in your main navigation, see Chapter 14 for the low-down on adding text and Chapter 17 for the ins and outs of link connection.

A navigation bar (or nav bar) begins life as a mockup in your image editor.

9 Two sustainability leaders that superbly address the new rules

Slice ePub May 14, 2014

The new rules for addressing the demands of today’s sustainability-minded consumers not only represent a seismic shift in communication strategy but also now require a thorough, life-cycle approach to product development and the ability to forge constructive coalitions with a wide array of new corporate stakeholders. While most businesses are still learning the new rules and trying to adapt accordingly, some business are leading the way, pioneering new strategies, and enjoying the myriad benefits. While many companies, large and small, fit into this category, two have been chosen to be profiled in depth in this chapter: Starbucks and Timberland.

Of course, no company can be considered 100% sustainable – and these companies have their eco-shortcomings, too – but I believe that the progress made by these two firms can represent a model for others who follow in their steps and, I hope, a platform from which to build on even these leaders’ efforts. Consumer loyalty to these companies and their offerings proves that new sustainable branding strategies can form the basis of an enduring business and provide leverage in the face of formidable competition. They superbly demonstrate how new strategies of green marketing can create jobs, build brand loyalty, and return hefty profits, all the while contributing to a more sustainable society.
